Donald's Trumped-Up Rule!

Donald's Trumped-up Rule!

"Transsexuals are Scary!".... many have said this phrase and do not have any regret what so ever. Transgender/Transsexuals are at last humans, aren't they? Then what is all the fuss about? Why do we judge them from their appearances so much? The answer is simple, we all are find stereotypes in one another. To be specific, here is another "controversy" in the world of stereotypes and sexist individuals. Donald Trump, an American real estate developer, who has a net worth of $2.9 billion is caught for criticizing and discriminating a transsexual Miss Universe contestant for being born as a male. Mr. Donald Trump's company own Miss Universe Pageants. Jenna Talackova, a transgender female contestant from Miss Universe Pageant was decided to be excluded from the show for being born as a boy.

Before becoming a model, and getting to the platform that she is already on, Talackova faced a lot of discrimination and stereotypes. On top of that, the great businessman Donald Trump decides to give a helping hand to defame a transsexual woman. No one has a choice to decide what gender they want to be or how they are gonna look like once they are born, then why judge people based on their sexual appearance. Mr. Trump's Miss Universe Pageant attempted to eliminate Jenna out of the tournament because she was actually a male until the age of 14, and went through a hormone therapy, and at the age of 19 she had a sexual reassignment surgery to become a female. It was her passion to become a model and to look good, and that is what she followed.

First Mr. Donald took the decision to kick her out of the Pageant and now he appears on TV claiming to support her in every way and states that he would not kick her out at all, meaning that he wants to win the public's now.  Mr. Donald's "trumped-up rule" came in handy when thought about the ratings of his show! Jenna Talackova decided to sue the contest and the company for the unjust reasons for good. Her disqualification makes headlines and it should.  At last,Transsexuals are normal people who are not any different from us.

“I want Mr. Trump to state that this rule will be eliminated because I do not want any other woman to suffer from the discrimination that I have endured", said Talackova. To bring down these stereotypes and stop discrimination, Talackova tackles this issue by sueing, Donald Trump's company to fight for the right cause. "When I was selected as a finalist, I was thrilled. I had always dreamed of being in the Miss Universe competition, and having an opportunity to represent my country, the reason they gave was unjust".

To add fuel to the fire,  Mr. Trump decides to publicize another misogynistic statement.
"I did not know that she had a lawyer and especially Gloria Allred,” Trump said today. "In fact, had I known it was Gloria Allred, I probably would not have reversed my decision because, you know, Gloria is easy to beat." A real estate billionaire try to offend an ordinary female lawyer shows how much of an anti feminist the society has become. The role of transsexuals in the society has become a joke and it is not only the business men like Donald Trump that hate them but  it is everyone in the limelight. For some it is a publicity stunt, and for others it is natural hatred and intolerance.

After all, it is our media who sets the dominant discourse of the society. The society have become so irritated with it's own community that it is now getting out of control. No one has the right to tell another individual what to do to his/her body or appearance. Gender representation is now becoming a complex issue for many of us. Individuals like Donald Trump give a bad name to all the people who are working professionals and influence today's young ones to also discriminate against the minority of Transsexuals. If we were to put ourselves in Jenna Talackova's place, we would definitely not like the reaction of the media and the public. So therefore, we need to treat people the way we would like to be treated!

Questions:

1. What would you do, if you were at Jenna's place?

2. Have you ever had a friend or a relative that went through this sort of discrimination?

3. How would do you feel about studying with Transsexuals and people of mixed gender at school?

4. Did you ever discriminate or put down a person of a transgender, and were regretful?

  1. First of all i wanna start out by saying that these Ms Universe pageants are the result of biased capitalism and they should not be taken be taken seriously. I mean seriously, if earth is the only planet participating don't call it Ms Universe.
That being said, i think Donna should not be able to compete in the Ms. Universe. These contests are meant for women and if you were male until the age of 14 you are not a woman rationally speaking. If i decide to have a sex change tomorrow, i would not be born with all the genes that make me a woman therefore i can not be called a woman. Its not discrimination, it is fact. Rejecting your gender is like rejecting the fact that you are a sexually reproducing species.
I also think discriminating against people who are different is wrong, i would not personally put down a person for being transgender. That in no way mean i agree with their decision but its their life and they can live it not truly being a gender.

  2. Rationally speaking, Mr Degenerate if you read my article clearly, you would notice that i mentioned Jenna Talackova had a hormone therapy, after which this person can be declared a female. The article was not written on the subject of Miss Universe Pageant or anything like that, i just used this specific example to make people realize the importance of gender representation, stereotypes and discrimination against the minorities. If she wanted to choose to enter the contest it was her choice, she shouldn't be disqualified based on her past experiences. In the article i have provided a quote of the Donald Trump which indicates his withdrawal from the case in which he was accused of anti-transsexualism. I pretty sure, he was not wrong, he wouldn't have withdrew.

    1. Hormone therapy does not make you a woman, the ability to reproduce makes you a female. If you are not born with ovaries, you are not a woman. That's like saying, i had plastic surgery which changed my skin color now i am Irish. No you have to be born i Ireland to be Irish.

    2. Your right somewhat right, but i don't totally agree with you, here we are not talking about ethnicity or colour, sexuality is a huge issue. My point earlier was that, if it really was a wrong decision to get into her past and try to defame someone like that. If Hormone therapy did not make someone a woman, then it would not exist.

  3. Great post Mr. Alvi. I have to agree with Donald Trump and his decision to kick out Jenna. I do support transgender but then again if you were a male at the age of 14 and then start to convert to a female at 19 it doesn't technically make you a female. You don't have all the genes of a female, period. I understand where Donald is coming from because he just wants models in his pageant that are fully female. Moreover, whatever media says about him is certainly their opinion. In the end of the day, Donald Trump is the boss and controls who gets to appear on his Miss Universe Pageant. I totally support transgenders and have nothing wrong with people that convert because its their body and life. Therefore, Donald Trump's decision was correct and shouldn't be judged because the pageant is based on individuals that are fully female. You can become a female of you're a male but you won't feel what a real female feels.

  4. Nice Comment, Mr. Dina. But again it is not about how a real female "feels" it is about sexuality of that person. I agree with you on the point that Donald Trump wants only females in the Pageant, but no one has the right to point out someone's past like that, if he had to kick her out, he would have done it behind the scenes. If you look more into Mr. Donald Trump's history he has been in a number of controversies and scandals with Miss Universes in his own Pageant contests. Ofcourse, he is a business man on whom the media always wants to start propaganda against, but he himself knows he is wrong at issue. Again, what i responded to Mr. Degenerate, Donal Trump withdrew from the case.

  5. This is a really interesting topic Bilal! If I were to put myself in Jenna's shoes. I would feel disappointed and hurt that the fact that I was being kicked out from the pageant just because I use to be a boy. Who cares if Jenna was a boy before and went through hormone therapy and all that. She is a female now. Its not like she's going to feel any different towards the other contestants. Lastly I want to comment on your third question. I actually would not mind studying with Transsexuals. I would accept them just as equally as everyone else because they aren't any different from us. Its just the choice of gender they choose to be.

    1. You are absolutely right Eric, i would like to add that despite many racist remarks being thrown at her, she still held her ground and fought for equality. People like Donald Trump are professionals individuals who give a bad name to everyone who is rich, famous and sponsors or runs beauty pageants such as Miss Universe and Miss America. Also, Jenna not only stood for herself but she stood for all those Transsexuals who were left by themselves and treated unequally in contest and shows like these.

  6. Awesome post Bilal! I would like to answer your third question. I think that if I were to study with a transsexual or person with a mixed gender I would be completely okay with it and would not mind at all. I respect everyone equally and I feel that at the end of the day, since everyone is still human, its not that they are in anyway different from us. Also, like Erica said it is just the choice of gender they choose to be.

    1. Thanks for agreeing with me on this issue Ajmal I would start by saying that studying with any type of gender despite being male or female we shouldn't judge them based on their sex, it is as simple as it can get. We are too judgmental at times and we need to give people some space and equality. It is important for the society to accept people of different gender because at the end we all belong to the same world. In this case, if Jenna wanted to become a female, it should be her choice and she should not be judged based on her life decisions. Miss Universe is a beauty Pageant contest and females should be judged based on their looks not on their sex.

  7. Thus is a very interesting post considering a billionaire discriminating against a transsexual. I personally believe that Jenna was not given an opportunity since she was discriminated practically all those years after her transformation into a woman. I disagree with Donald Trumps decision on how he eliminated Jenna from the contest, also made things worse by insulting her female lawyer. This whole contest is about fashion and beauty, not about the sexuality of the contestant, therefore if Jenna joined the contest, why would Donald trump have a problem with her gender. The main reason why she is participating is because she had been waiting most of her lifetime for this opportunity, however that opportunity has gone down the drain when the boss said no transsexuals allowed. I believe that this is a big slap to the face for Jenna, and therefore Donald should have gave Jenna an opportunity rather than eliminating her from the contest.

  8. Yes Kulvir, it is indeed a very interesting post because it makes us realize that the world is not only about the discrimination of blacks, Asians, whites, Homosexuals, women or someone else. There are also many Transsexuals that are discriminated for the way they appear in public. Sex is a personal matter and i don't think that anyone should judge another person based on their sex. As long as Donald Trump is concerned he is a very foolish businessman who thinks he can get away with this sort of a thing where he mistreats a model on his own show. Although, i know that Donald Trump appeared on the TV and started to favor her, but that was all done just to gain media and public sympathy. I think he should be bashed in the media for this sort of a thing and Jenna should be supported by the people since she has done nothing wrong. Trump not only discriminated against Transsexuals but ruined someone's image and lifelong opportunity to become someone they worked their entire life for.
